UNLOCKING AFRICAN'S TECHNOLOGICAL POTENTIAL

Africa is on the verge of a tech revolution and investors, entrepreneurs, thought-leaders and decision-makers the world over are paying attention. A large number of African nations are at a critical juncture in which key urban hubs on our continent are transforming to knowledge-based centers and hotbeds of innovation. As such investments carry huge potential, hundreds of millions will be brought out of poverty, and standards of living will begin to match those of developed countries. But all of the wealth and innovation being created and the lives being changed hinge largely on three things: government and private-sector efforts, and the partnership between them. On the government side, there is a clear understanding in Africa among the more rapidly developing economic players that in order to continue the pace of our progress, technology must be brought more and more to center stage. The red hot start-up scenes in Kigali, Nairobi, and Lagos are excellent examples of the promise that

THE NEED FOR NIGERIANS TO RISE WITH A SWORD OF IDEAS

Image
The problem of unemployment in Nigeria has turned into a tragic song on the lips of both the old and the young. Its no longer a child's play especially after the tragic saga of the immigration recruitment. A lot of people think the major problem is the GOVERNMENT, sorry to disappoint you but they are not. The problem is the stunted and myopic mindset of our youths especially graduates leaving higher institutions. Their entire focus is on working for other people and not sourcing and cracking their heads for world changing ideas. First class and second class upper will not make Nigeria better but ideas will.  Few of our young people will voluntarily join the Police Force if they have the luxury of choice. It was an irony of sorts when the Police Service Commission (PSC) recently invited applications from qualified Nigerians for recruitment into the Force based on President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval for the recruitment of 10,000 policemen. The Commission had advertised for

QUALITIES THAT DEFINE AN ENTREPRENEUR

Each entrepreneurial journey is as unique as a set of fingerprints. However, there is a set of common denominators that tie the most successful entrepreneurs together. Here are seven common shared qualities that set extraordinary entrepreneurs apart. 1. They are always hustling “What you lack in talent can be made up with desire, hustle and giving 110 percent all the time.” -- Don Zimmer You aren’t going to see successful entrepreneurs hanging on the couch or sleeping in. There’s a strange disconnect between people who fantasize about entrepreneurship and those who actually do it. Entrepreneurship certainly does mean total freedom, but if you really want to do nothing with that freedom, you’re not going to survive, much less be successful. 2. They are positive “I am thankful for all of those who said no to me. It’s because of them I’m doing it myself.” -- Albert Einstein A positive, optimistic outlook will take you a long way. Successful entrepreneurs use
